about ethiopia gelana abaya

we're a big fan of ethiopian coffees here, particularly those from yirgacheffe and surrounding regions.

there's a reason they're consistently one of our best sellers and collect so many five star reviews: they taste like nothing else, and bring a fantastic balance of full flavor with a light body. when we say 'bright', think lemon or lime rather than the sweetness of orange.

This washed lot comes from the Abaya Main Station, operated by Tracon Trading in the Gelana Abaya area of Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia. Grown between 1850 and 2000 masl, it’s produced by 452 smallholder farmers cultivating heirloom varieties on nutrient-rich land. The region’s cool climate and consistent rainfall create ideal conditions for clarity and complexity in the cup..

it brings everything east african coffees can to the table, and is here for a limited time only.

This washed lot comes to us from the Uraga washing station in the Guji zone of the Oromia Region of Ethiopia. Hundreds of
regional smallholder farmers deliver ripe cherries to the washing station for processing, and each farmer averages 2 hectares of
land for cultivation. During the height of harvest, Uraga can accommodate up to 200 raised beds completely full of drying coffee.
